Decided to go take a walk on the beach today.
This was AFTER going for a stroll at the farmer’s market this morning, mind you - something I haven’t done without a mobility aid (the knee scooter, a cane, and/or a boot, at various times) since the cipro destroyed my feet just over two years ago.
Felt good. It’s such a small thing, but I’m loving the freedom to just... walk.
Anyway, I’d walked on the sand for a few metres last week, wanted to see how it would go if I actually did a WALK.
It was gorgeous!
On the way back, I decided to do up a video for an online Floxie support group that I’m in:
Walked maybe a little less than a km, all told... but it was across a really steep angle, and it felt like a workout.
A little while later, I got it in my head that it was the time to try jumping - first just a couple hops in place, then a ½ rotation, then an attempt at a full rotation.
Spoilers: I only got ¾ of a rotation in, but hey... not awful as a start, right?
I don't remember the last time I left the ground in any way.
Physiotherapist said I could start SLOWLY working on hopping / jumping off ice.
That was yesterday (when I did leg day AND 50 WEIGHTED CALF RAISES) - and my calves hate me today - but I couldn't wait, so did this, this afternoon.
Definitely a lot of work to be done, but hey... at least it seems like things are FINALLY ready for me to get started on it!
