This afternoon, we took a walk in Cambridge, finally checking out the Mill Race Park.

We’ve driven by it a few times, but never been able to check it out – getting out of the car and walking – especially with stairs – hasn’t really been much of an option for the past 2 years.

It’s such a little thing, but I’ve really, REALLY been enjoying the freedom to just… go check new places out. Get out of the car, go for walks, not worrying about terrain, or stairs, or anything!

We went up and down several sets of stairs, right down to the water’s edge – no problem!

It’s one of the locations used for The Handmaid’s Tale – when the Handmaids would take walks past the hanging bodies – and today I got the impression that we JUST missed some filming!

I looked it up on Twitter after we got home, and yup – we missed Aunt Lydia, right there where we were walking, and someone hanging.

It’ll be interesting to see it when the new season comes out – we’re more used to seeing scenes much closer to our own house. (Confederation Park, Hutch’s… there was a scene in “Chicago” that was shot straight up Barton st.. etc.

Anyway, in less-fun news, my right achilles started acting up when we got home. It was perfectly fine when we got back in the car in Cambridge, so I’m guessing it just wasn’t happy from the drive home?

It’s a familiar deep ache, right in the insertion point – the same place that the Achilles tore, several months after getting Ciproed.

I’m hoping it’s nothing. I’ve really, REALLY been enjoying my freedom lately.

Hey, I'm Marie!

I skated as a kid, and have been making the long, rough road back as an adult.

This time, I have a husband to drag along with me :)

I started back in early 2019, and ran into dual roadblocks in 2020 - the pandemic, and being severely crippled by FOUR PILLS of Ciprofloxacin - an antibiotic that destroyed most of the tendons in both of my feet.

Oh, and pancreatic cancer. Fun stuff.

I've learned to walk again, and in October 2021, I started back. Again.

Here's where I'll chronicle the whole mess!
