This weekend was supposed to be the Ontario Adult Championships.

In the end, it was canceled due to Covid. Even if it hadn’t have been, I wouldn’t have been there on account of all the tendon problems from the cipro.

I was registered for dance and showcase, having decided to hold off on freeskate for next time (yes, after making my Dalek dress MONTHS ahead of time. Whoops!)

Anyway, a few of us decided to get dome up in our dresses, do hair and makeup, and share pics of our “competition at home”.

It was extremely difficult for me – I could barely get my skates on (loads of foot swelling), and hand to be helped to my spot, using a cane.

I didn’t want the cipro pain to overshadow the memory, so I asked my husband to take it away for the photo – and standing on skates without it was really, really difficult.

… I really hope this goes away soon. 4 antibiotic pills shouldn’t be able to cripple you for almost a month!

Anyway, this was my dance dress:

I posted about making it here.

And this was my Showcase program dress:

… that I’d posted about here.

This one is a weird one to mourn, as I hadn’t don’t a ton of the choreography for it, by the time Cipro took me off the ice.

It was cute, though – never pictured the day when I’d be skating a program with a hobby horse!

Next year, hopefully.

Hey, I'm Marie!

I skated as a kid, and have been making the long, rough road back as an adult.

This time, I have a husband to drag along with me :)

I started back in early 2019, and ran into dual roadblocks in 2020 - the pandemic, and being severely crippled by FOUR PILLS of Ciprofloxacin - an antibiotic that destroyed most of the tendons in both of my feet.

Oh, and pancreatic cancer. Fun stuff.

I've learned to walk again, and in October 2021, I started back. Again.

Here's where I'll chronicle the whole mess!
