Tonight we went outdoor skating for the first time in… I don’t know how long.

I think it’s been 23 years for me, he had never skated outdoors!

Porter is going to use his first pair of crappy recreational skates… I’m going to use my new pair of backup skates.

… For the first time
… With a blade type I don’t like
… With factory sharpening. LOL.

I’m not even sure if there is “factory sharpening”, but Porter says they feel sharp to him, justifying it as “well, knives come pre sharpened…”
Adventure!

A pair of brand new white figure skates.

Omg look how painfully NEW they are!

Not only have they not been heat molded yet, I didn’t even realize I still had the tag on, till I was doing them up! LOL

We went to the Hamilton Waterfront Outdoor Rink, which looks gorgeous – a rink right on the harbour!

There is rollerskating in the summer, and ice skating in the winter.

Love it!

Oh, and omg they have a legit Zamboni! Sweeeet!

A zamboni on an ourdoor rink.

The ice was actually really decent, considering how many people were on it.

Look at the view from the rink:

The view from the ice.

A line of lit up christmas decorations on a lawn.

I’m still pinching myself over having married someone who will go skating with me!

Hey, I'm Marie!

I skated as a kid, and have been making the long, rough road back as an adult.

This time, I have a husband to drag along with me :)

I started back in early 2019, and ran into dual roadblocks in 2020 - the pandemic, and being severely crippled by FOUR PILLS of Ciprofloxacin - an antibiotic that destroyed most of the tendons in both of my feet.

Oh, and pancreatic cancer. Fun stuff.

I've learned to walk again, and in October 2021, I started back. Again.

Here's where I'll chronicle the whole mess!
