We tend to go from having a wild idea to making it happen REALLY quickly.

Here’s a timeline for our latest nonsense, which probably surprised NO ONE who knows us:

November 2:

– We watch “Night at the Roxbury”.

– Joke about how we should do a pairs program to it.

– “Do you want me to have a Twizzer up my nose?”- Porter

– Decided that we’ve discussed some really dumb ideas and therefore pretty much have to do this.

November 3:

– I draft up a quick sketch.

Front and back sketches of blue and purple skating costumes made to look like sparkly suits.

November 5:

Purchased the PERFECT fabric:

A bolt of bright blue hologram spandex.

Pieces of bright blue and bright purple hologram spandex.

November 6:

Patterned and cut it all out.

Pieces of blue, black, and purple spandex in a pile.

Today, November 7:

I did the thing.

A purple hologram figrue skating dress designed to look like a suit with a black tshirt and chain necklace.

I cackled for a good 5 minutes when I finished this.

A black tshirt, silver chain, and hologram blue skating pants.

A blond man wearing a partially constructed blue hologram suit jacket

Getting the fit right before finishing.

A bright blue suit jacket made from hologram finish spandex.

A blond man wearing a Night at teh Roxbury figure skating costume made from blue hologram spandex.

We broke the news – along with some of our ridiculous ideas – to our coach … who cackled so hard, the whole rink heard her.

She is 100% here for our nonsense.

I’ve never had a coach actually egg on my dumb ideas. This will be fun!!

Hey, I'm Marie!

I skated as a kid, and have been making the long, rough road back as an adult.

This time, I have a husband to drag along with me :)

I started back in early 2019, and ran into dual roadblocks in 2020 - the pandemic, and being severely crippled by FOUR PILLS of Ciprofloxacin - an antibiotic that destroyed most of the tendons in both of my feet.

Oh, and pancreatic cancer. Fun stuff.

I've learned to walk again, and in October 2021, I started back. Again.

Here's where I'll chronicle the whole mess!
